Shoes & Incy Wincy Spider

dsc_0178Everyone who’s a mum will totally be able to relate to what I’m feeling right now. You know when you just go all warm and fuzzy inside with a big smile on your face and you want to shout and tell everyone how proud you are of your child(ren) but you don’t want to sound like an idiot so you just save it until daddy comes home instead (but then if you’re like me, you’d forget…)

Isabel just gets “older” and more “intelligent” every day. It’s totally new for me actually. Ella and Joey didn’t start saying words until well after 2 years old, and didn’t talk in sentences until past 3 years old. Isabel is now 18 months.

She was shouting from the front room about 15 minutes ago. I was kind of ignoring her as I was getting on with my work. (I occasionally don’t hear them anymore)… I only stopped to listen when she angringly yelled “MAMA!” so I called back “Yes?!” And then she started saying what she’d been saying prior to her angery mummy… “Shooooes… Shooooes… Shooooes” So I went into her, and there she was, holding Joey’s shoes and proudly announcing “Shoes!” She knew she was being clever, because out came her cheeky “Look at how clever I am” smile and pose. She does this with all new words (which are coming thicker and faster… We’ve even had a few sentences!)

Joey and Isabel then proceeded to serenade me with a few rounds of Westlife’s Bop Bop Baby… a favourite of the Farren children. Although no song will beat their love for Boyzone’s “Love me for a Reason”… Can you guess what music mummy forces them to listen to in the car?!

Shortly after Bop Bop Baby had finished, this beautiful tuneful rendition of Incy Wincy Spider came flowing from the front room. Initially I thought it was Joey (he’s the singer of the three!), and suddenly I realised. It was Isabel! So not every word/syllable was correct. I’ll cut her some slack. But the words Incy Wincy Spider Up Spout Down Rain Out Sun Rain Incy Wincy Spider Up Spout Again were to perfection. They were linked up with some gorgeous “la la’s” inbetween. Oh she’s so clever. I can now add Incy Wincy Spider to her super large database of songs she knows (including most of westlifes greatest hits, all the cbeebies theme tunes, and a large amount of nursery rhymes)

When do the 2010 Britains Got Talent auditions start?

She is so sweet - you must be hugely proud of her! It’s great when they take you by suprise, isn’t it?!

Oh my, she is adorable! I’m hoping my 18 month old follows the same route as his sister by not talking until after 2 years - I love hearing them talk, it’s just now, my almost 5 year old won’t stop!! Though I can’t think where she gets it from… *whistles innocently*
